Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program - RRAP for Homeowners
The Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program – RRAP for Homeowners provides funding to low-income persons who own and occupy substandard housing so that they can repair the housing to ensure that it meets the minimum federal health and safety standards.

Eligibility Information
· Dwellings must be at least five years old and lack basic facilities or require major repairs in one or more of the following categories: electrical, fire safety, heating, plumbing or structural.
· The value of the dwelling must be below a specified amount.
· The household income must be at or below an established limit based on household size and location.
· Other criteria may apply.
Home Buyers' Plan
The Home Buyers' Plan allows eligible individuals to withdraw up to $20,000 tax free from their Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) to purchase or build a qualifying home.

Eligibility Information
The Canada Revenue Agency considers the following persons first-time home buyers:
· persons, including former homeowners, who have not owned a home they occupied as a principal place of residence at any time during the four-year period before the date of withdrawal of funds
· disabled persons acquiring a more accessible home
· persons acquiring a more accessible home for a disabled person related to them by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption
· persons providing funds to a disabled person related to them by blood, marriage, common-law partnership or adoption, to build or purchase a more accessible home
· other criteria may apply
Dates and Deadlines
· Participants must begin repayment two years after withdrawing the funds.
· Amounts withdrawn under the Plan must be repaid over a period of no more than 15 years.

Emergency Repair Program
The Emergency Repair Program provides funding to low-income homeowners and tenants in rural areas so that they can make emergency repairs to their homes in order to make them fit for habitation.

Eligibility Information
Emergency repairs must be related to one of the following:
· the chimney
· the doors and windows
· the electrical system
· the foundation
· the heating and ventilation systems
· the plumbing
· the roof, walls, floors and ceilings
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
· have an income at or below an established limit
· housing must be their primary place of residence
· other criteria may apply
